(Bangkok Post file photo)Uttama Savanayana has resigned as minister of the Information and Communication Technology Ministry to make way for the establishment of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, according to ICT Ministry spokesman Chatchai Khunpitilak. Mr Chatchai said Mr Uttama had already resigned as ICT minister and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha had been informed of the resignation. Sources said Gen Prayut would likely assign Deputy Prime Minister Prajin Juntong to be caretaker ICT minister until the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society was officially in place. The new ministry will take over the responsibilities from the ICT Ministry. All except one of the units under the ICT Ministry will come under the new ministry.
